Ntungamo Municipality MP and NRM flag bearer Yona Musinguzi, who also serves as the district’s NRM vice chairperson, described the upcoming visit as historic and said residents are prepared to offer the President an exceptional welcome.

“Ntungamo is ever ready to host their own. This will be massive. I am calling on everyone to come and witness what has not happened anywhere. This will be the biggest gathering in Ntungamo we have ever had,” Musinguzi said.

He noted that enthusiasm is high across the district, including among elderly residents in remote villages who are eagerly awaiting the visit of what he called a “son of the soil.”

Ntungamo is the birthplace of both President Museveni and First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni, a factor leaders say adds emotional and political weight to the event.

Sections of Ntungamo Municipality have already been decorated in the NRM’s yellow colours, signalling heightened excitement and coordinated mobilisation ahead of the campaign stop.

Leaders confirmed that 15 subcommittees have been established to handle various aspects of the preparations, including mobilisation, protocol, welfare, venue management, decoration, entertainment, media, sanitation, first aid, communications, materials distribution, security and transport.

Musinguzi said the district is prioritising safety and convenience for all attendees.

“There is a whole transportation committee. We want to make sure any person who comes to this gathering, the way they come is the same way they will be taken back. Many others are even willing to come on foot,” he said.

The NRM leadership also noted that more consultative meetings will be held with district leaders, current MPs and party flag bearers before the President’s arrival.

A memorandum of understanding outlining Ntungamo’s development priorities will be drafted and presented to Museveni during the visit.

Musinguzi expressed confidence in the President’s strong support base in the district. In the 2021 general elections, Museveni secured 86.52 percent of the Ntungamo vote.

“There is no amount of pressure, nothing will tamper with the vote of President Museveni. The least will be 98 percent. Ntungamo is set and ready,” he said.

District officials expect thousands of supporters to converge at Kyamate Playground, which will host the rally.

Preparations remain ongoing as Ntungamo positions itself to deliver a grand reception for the President’s campaign launch.
